Taken at Wat Monorom in Luang Prabang, Laos.

Five o’clock in the evening, It was the time for an evening chanting at Wat Monorom. I was taking pictures of temples around the town. Novice monks at the temple were starting to talking to us, to practice their English and make friends. He said he’s not allowed to drink beer but he’s allowed to have friends. The monks invited us to participate the chanting, and chanting with them if we know how to. We sat in the back and listened them chanting and praying. It was a beautiful moment. Here is the photo essay of Temples and Monks in Luang Prabang, Laos.

This was one of those really special moments of traveling and you captured the essence of it. Nicely done!

I can very well imagine how beautiful it would have felt. My idea of meditation also includes chanting; either silently in my mind or out loud when the distraction are many. It helps substitute all the negative feelings with the positive ones and when performed in an environment like that shown in the picture, its effect is many fold. Chanting clears mind, body and soul of all things toxic.
