Taken at Buffalo National River in Arkansas, USA

As you can see from the colour of the photo, Buffalo National River is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the US. It is , located in northern Arkansas, was the first National River to be designated in the country. The water was warm enough to swim and shallow enough to be safe. The river is more than 150 miles (240 km) long, and there are a numbers of campground and picnic spots to enjoy the scenery.

The water was super-clean too! Love that river. Going back some day to canoe.

My home backs up to the Buffalo National River park and I am president of the Buffalo National River Chamber of Commerce. I am also a professional photographers.

Our chamber website provides in-depth information about the river including destinations, river levels, and things to do. While many websites offer brochure-level information, we have planning guides with specifics.

For example, we have real-time river level gauges for the entire river, and free topographical maps. The major tourist attractions are located by GPS with information and insider tips.

We hope you will visit and learn more about the Buffalo National River. It is a great destination for photographers. We like to say this is the best place nobody has ever heard of. A few different tourism writers have ID’ed the Buffalo National River in the top 10 unknown national parks that everyone should visit. It is a great place. Check us out.
